Coating doesn't hide swirls. It locks them in. So before any coating goes down, I inspect the paint under inspection lighting. Hand application, panel by panel
I apply the coating, a professional 3M ceramic formula, in small sections by hand using a crosshatch technique. Each panel is leveled during the flash period so no high spots remain. Coating aftercare
What Your Coated Car Needs From You, Season by Season
For the first seven days after application, the coating is finishing its chemical cure. Avoid washing the car, parking under trees that drop sap, and any pressure washing. Light water contact is fine after seventy two hours. Full washing returns at one week.
After the initial cure, the coating is tough. Maintenance is simple and the schedule is small. A gentle contact wash every two to four weeks. A ceramic safe soap, a clean microfiber mitt, and the two bucket method. Avoid the touch car washes, because the brushes drag grit across the coating and dull the gloss faster than anything else.
Annually, the car comes back for a maintenance decontamination detail at the Westminster, MD shop.
